The Boston Wine School is at the corner of Commonwealth Avenue and Scottfield Road directly next door to
BLM Wine & Spirits. This is the stretch of Commonwealth between Harvard and Kelton in Allston.
The very best way to get to the Boston Wine School is to let the T be your designated driver! Take the Green Line B Train and get off at either Griggs Street or Allston Street. It is about a 2-minute walk from either station.
PARKING
If you are driving, you can park beside BLM along the alley between the wine shop and the laundromat. If you continue up this alley and bear to the right, there are about nine diagonal spaces on the left against the Brighton Self Storage building that are marked for BLM use as well. Please do not park in the front BLM parking lot since they need that for wine shop parking.
ID
We are required by law (and good sense) to verify everyone's age before class begins, so please bring a valid ID.
ACCESS
The Boston Wine School is wheelchair accessible. Entrance and all facilities are on street level.
FOOD
Please let me know if you have any food allergies, or if there are foods you cannot eat for any reason. We always have plenty of bread, olives, antipasto, and that sort of thing to nibble on while we taste.
DRESS CODE
The Boston Wine School is a very comfortable, casual environment, and as such, there is no dress code. It's always smart to dress in dark colors: black skirt, brown slacks, burgundy top, that sort of thing. No one wants to go home looking like a Jackson Pollock painting!
COMFORT
Part of the Wine School is underground and the front is a wall of large glass windows, so depending on how cold it is outside, it can be kind of cool. I like to think this gives it the original wine cellar feel, but if you think you might get cold, bring a sweater.
FRAGRANCES
This is a relatively small space, and in wine class, we are trying to concentrate on smelling wine, not one another. Please no perfume, cologne, body spray, aromatic hair gel or other strong fragrances.
